Open source, oh yeah. As promised, today is the day that chaw is released to the public. I hope you find it as chawsome as I do. I am pretty excited with the possibilities of continued innovation that will come from the community.
###now
Chaw was first written about a year ago. Of course, over the last year a lot has changed. The code has become more stable and the opportunity is right for

Some exciting news today. thechaw.com is now running on a new server.
What may be more exciting is that the code will be released open source on Monday, December 14, 2009.
The code will still have plenty of warts, but i'll do my best to make it release ready. Chaw is built on top of CakePHP 1.3 and currently the code only runs on 1.3-dev. Hopefully, this will be a good chance for others

I have not been sitting on my thumbs, but there has been a lot of work on different projects. I have made some nice improvements to the timeline, so I will be performing another upgrade tomorrow. This upgrade will probably take about an hour or so. Not too many people show up on Sunday, so hopefully it does not affect to many people. I plan to make this happen around 10am PST.
Happy Birthday USA.

The major update is complete. Good thing I reserved an hour for it, because I needed it. I ran into a few bumps, but for the most part everything seemed to go smoothly.
Right off the bat, you should notice a more conventional design. I tried to steer away from the the typical header, nav, etc, but hopefully the new layout will feel a bit more comfortable.
The ticket system has been
##April 28, 2009
It's been a while since the last log, but as you can see from the [wiki:/timeline timeline] plenty of work has been going into the code.
###So, prepare for a major update
The latest changes are just about to be merged into master. Then, I will post a nice little video to the homepage, while the rest of Chaw is offline. This update is slightly awkward, so my hope is that this is the last one

I am still working hard on the new workflow system. Lots of changes a foot to add more flexibility and configuration on a per project basis. In the meantime, I pushed some changes for view commits of a file per branch. This should evolved nicely into being able to view a timeline of each branch. I also pushed some changes to the tickets forms, which highlight the need to set the proper

I just pushed some updates. You should see a dashboard view that more accurately reflects an aggregated timeline. Some people expressed the opinion that the panel based dashboard was ugly. Hopefully the new view will be more pleasing on the eyes. I left the panel layout for the project admin dashboard, so you will not notice a change there if you are managing a project or fork.
Also, as part

Last night I worked on a new timeline look and feel. Check out the one for [Debug Kit](/debug_kit/timeline). I think its a big improvement over the previous design. Dashboard is probably the next feature to get a major facelift, but I can't see this happening until after the [workflow ](/wiki/dev/logs/2009-02-11) is completed. In the meantime, you can have a look at the [Debug Kit

Development has not been quiet around here. We have been working hard on some bug fixes and something we call "workflow". Workflow is an extension to the current ticket system which will enable more organization and collaboration on the development of Chaw based projects. For us, the ticket system is essential to managing the development of a project.
So, you might be interested to know what

Some pretty major changes over the last couple of days. For one, Chaw is fully internationalized thanks to work of yandod, the leader of CakePHP in Japan. The first available translation is in Japanese, and we plan to have more available. If you are interested in translating Chaw into your language, stop by #chaw and say hello.
Also, I made a change to the hooks that will allow all commits in

Made a few changes to the wiki this week. Now if you create a page that has children, the page content will be shown in the main content area and the children will be displayed in the Sub Nav on the right. Here is a simple example, create a page in /docs. Then create a child in /docs/setup. See how it works? Checkout the rss feed, /docs.rss

A few days a go, git branch viewing was added. Since, then it has been completely refactored and allows deleting old branches right from the source viewer. [Check out the Sandbox](/sandbox/source/branches).

One of the features on the list for a while was the ability to merge, whether you are going to fast forward your fork to match the current main project or merge a fork into the main project. Today, the initial bones of this feature are working. If you see __chawbacca__ doing a lot of work, then all is good.
##December 20, 2008
This marks one month since the alpha release. A day has not gone by without at least one commit. Several new projects are helping work out some of the kinks.
##November 20, 2008
marks the __Alpha__ release. I even said so when I inserted the [first version](/versions).
